The War-z Preview

Like most people in the gaming world I have a passion for two things. Zombies and Guns. Now when these two things are combined within a single video game I cannot contain my excitement and control my sense of anticipation. We have seen games like left for dead and dead island thrive and receive excellent reviews from nearly all who played them. There is just something about a game which combines these two factors which makes it not only a great game, but a great success to the game industry as a whole.
This year we have seen the release of Day-Z which is a mod for the popular shooter game ARMA II. This mod contains not only zombie and guns, but a survival aspect and also a major focus on pvp. This was without a doubt the first game/mod to ever mix these factors together with great success and create a game which is not only mind-blowing, but keeps the player wanting to come back for more. Wanting to loot that extra house before they log off or wanting to find an upgrade to the fire axe which they have found. The game gives the player a sense of fear, as they know that if they are killed by either a zombie or a player they will lose everything they have, and all the hard hours they have put in looting various locations will be wasted. No other game offers this type of feeling and game play  This is why there have been a number of people asking the question, why are there not more types of games like this? Well now there are more starting to appear.
The War-z has arrived on the scene during the summer, offering the same type of gameplay as day-z with a number of different features which are exclusive to War-z. Many have argued that war-z copied day-z in every way imaginable, but what I do not understand is that if people love day-z and the gameplay, why are they complaining that another game is being released which offers the same aspects. Surely it means that they can choose to play either of the two and enjoy both.
But anyway back to War-z. I have been interested in this game for a long time now, and often find myself scouting YouTube for the latest videos and news. It is a zombie survival MMO, where you play as a character either in a first person or a third person view. You will explore a vast open world, encountering not only a vast amount of terrifying zombies but also a number of players, who will either decide to leave you alone, ask you to help them, or try to kill you and steal all of you hard earned loot. This is what gives games like these an edge over other zombie games. They engross the player and make them feel as though it really is a life or death situation, and leave you prone in the middle of a field scared of being an easy target for a sniper laying in wait. War-z will offer a massive open world where you will find a lot of different loot, such as guns, ammo, food, armour, hats ect. These will be vital and you will need to ensure that your have enough food and water to survive but also enough ammo to keep you feeling safe. There will also be  a marketplace where you can buy a number of different items which you can use in game. An in game currency is used to purchase these items. A feature which they have implemented enables you to make your own strongholds. These can range from a small fort to keep your safe from zombies, to zombie gladiator arenas. This feature is very interesting and I am looking forward to trying it out and exploring all of the possible designs which I can come up with.
All in all this game looks fantastic and  I cannot wait to start playing. I will not however be able to tell you guys much about the game once I start playing it as there is an NDA which stops people from talking about the game until the a certain time and I don't know exactly when this is. But as soon as I can expect a review on this game and hopefully it will be positive.

HomeFront Review (Xbox360, Ps3 and PC Versions)

 Good Points
Great multiplayer- Good Attention to detail- Campaign has some very action packed moments.

 Bad Points
Very short campaign-  The campaign feels familiar- Lack of Weapons in multiplayer.

I picked up this game on the day of release and have been very pleased with my purchase ever since. Ignore the reviews and the critics, Homefront is a very good game and can be enjoyed by any type of gamer be it hardcore or people just looking for a little fun. The game's plot is that North and South Korea have united and have invaded America destroying everything and everyone in their way. Whilst this is not a new concept, Homefront does a good job of engaging you in the action, and making you feel like this could really happen.

First off I would like to warn you that if you are thinking to buy Homefront without Xbox live, PSN or a Internet connection then I think you should look elsewhere for a game. Homefront's campaign is very short and wraps up rather abruptly, you will not only left wanting more, you are left expecting more and may feel disappointed. But it is a memorable campaign and you will enjoy whilsts it lasts, even if it only does last around 5 hours. However in these 5 hours you will experience some very memorable moments and be blown away by the attention to detail. The story is very well thought out and the environment is very well presented to make you feel right at home.

Now for the Multiplayer. This is the main reason I purchased the game. The multiplayer is one if a kind, the introduction of "battle points" is a genius idea and works very well. The battle points system if a very good way of keeping the game fast paced and enjoyable, the idea of it is that the more kills you get, or the more points your capture, the more battle points you achieve. Thus letting you spend them on either assigned things or by spawning in a vehicle. It is a very good addition to the game and makes the whole multiplayer experience more enjoyable. The amount of satisfation you gain when you purchase White phosphorus and take the entire enemy team in one go is unreal. There are a decent number of unlockables and perks in the game, which you will unlock as you rank up, however I would of liked to of seen more weapons to use, such as a larger array of sniper rifles.. You will also have access to a number of vehicles depending on what map you are playing. Vehicles range from the Scout helicopter to the Humvee, these give the multiplayer a wider range of ways to take down you opponents and win the game. Also another factor which makes Homefront's multiplayer action packed is the additon of playable drones. There are 4 drones in the game which you can purchase using battle points, and they each do different things, For example one is a Anti-Vehicle drone and another is a Helicopter which fires rockets.

To conclude, Homefront tries to be a one of a kind first-person shooter and nearly succeeds but for the very short campaign. It's close attention to detail ands it brilliant multiplayer makes Homefront a must buy for first-person shooter fans. It offers some nice moments which are complemented by the games soundtrack, but these moments are rare and do not last long. If you are looking to buy Homefront for its Single player, then you may be better suited looking some where else to fill the gap you are looking for. Apart from that Homefront if another first-person shooter which is worth looking in too.

Lego Harry Potter (Xbox 360, Ps3 Versions)

Well better get started on some reviewing.
I bought this game second hand from my local game shop, not really expecting much from it. Don't get me wrong I love Harry Potter and everything about it, but in my mind the 2 didnt really add up. But First impressions WOW! What a game this is, don't care if its for 3+ I would buy this game if I was 34. Its brillant, it has everything you could want from this sort of game. A lot of play time and load of unlockable features you can strive to unlock. Once you pick this game up you wont be able to put it down untill you have the full 100% completion. The gameplay is sweet and flowing and the graphics look marvelous, considering everything is made out of lego. And trust me I have been to Legoland, and not even the real place looks as good as this game.
The game supports 2 player co-op and surprisingly its not much fun during the actual campaign, but this is made up for because of the amount of bonus level's within the game you can complete with a mate. Plus the fact you can build a level togther. The one thing which also gets up in ma grill is the fact that if you move away from your friend the screen splits into 2, at first it was cool, now its really annoying.
I can't really rate the sound because the characters don't speak at all. Yup thats right at all. You have to deal with grunts, and gestures. But this is alright if you have seen the films you know what happening anyway.
The controls are really easy and fun to use, the ownly problem is that it can take a while to find the right spell you need to select, and by the time you find it a dementor has killed you. Nice.

So overall this is a lego game you should not underestimate. Its has great gameplay and a load of extra things you can do to burn some time, the graphics are sweet and you will relish your time at hogwarts. This is mainly a game for fans of the films and people who can't get enough wizard in thier lives. But the co-op aint great and it could be improved.

Gameplay- 4/5
Graphics- 4/5
Co-op- 2.5/5
Controls- 3/5
Overall verdict- 4/5
